KPMG globally celebrated Cyber Day. As part of this initiative, KPMG in Indiaconducted a mass outreach program to educate young school children about being cyber safe. Reaching out to a whopping/impressive 3673 participants in schools across India, the company has set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS record for conducting the “largest computer security lesson at multiple locations” at the same time.

Commenting on the achievement Arun M Kumar, Chairman and CEO, KPMG in India said “Educating students on Cyber Security is vital in today’s interconnected world. The firm has made a significant contribution to our communities through this novel and impactful initiative of conducting the largest computer security lesson to educate young school children.”

Illustrating his views on the success of the initiative, Akhilesh Tuteja, Global Cyber Security Co-lead and Head of Risk Consulting at KPMG in India, said, “We recognize cybersecurity as an important concern for every organisation, as regular occurrences demonstrate the risk posed by cyber attackers that aim at systematically stealing intellectual property and/or disrupting business. However, KPMG in India is also cognizant of the fact that increasing internet penetration across the country, does not restrict online safety to companies, but has developed into a widespread threat for the society in general.

The youth, especially school children are vulnerable to online fraud and crimes, with many of them falling prey to cyber predators in recent times. Such a scenario compelled us to put forth a cyber security initiative to address this cohort, reaching out to as many of them as possible. I am glad that our efforts have not only been successful in spreading the desired message, but also translated into an honourable milestone qualifying us for a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS achievement.”

Conducted through classroom training sessions across India, the unique outreach programme witnessed a record number of participants at multiple locations, who took the opportunity to gain knowledge on the increasingly crucial subject of cybersecurity. Setting a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS record is the highest testament for the company’s commitment to the betterment of society.
