Hyderabad, Stating that some persons were using Drone Cameras in marriage functions and other events under Rachakonda limits without obtaining permission from the Police and Director General of Civil Aviation, the Police Commissioner has directed all the managements/owners of function halls/gardens/farm houses/resorts/hotels under Rachakonda limits to take note of the rules in vogue and ensure strict compliance. In case of any violations are noticed, stern action against the concerned will be taken as per law.
In a press note here today, the Police Commissioner stated in this regard the DGCA-Safdarjung Airport, New Delhi issued a Public Notice on October 7, 2014, stating that the UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) has potential for large number of civil applications. However, its use, besides being a safety issue, also poses security threat. The Airspace over cities in India has high density of manned aircraft traffic. Due to lack of regulation, operating procedures/standards and uncertainty of the technology, UAS pose threat for air collisions and accidents.
He further stated the civil operation of UAS will require approval from the Air Navigation Service Provider, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Home Affairs and other security agencies concerned beside the DGCA. The Director General of Civil Aviation is in the process of formulating the regulations (and globally harmonize those) for certification and operation for use of UAS in the Indian Civil Airspace. Till such regulations are issued, no Non-Government agency, Organization or an individual will launch a UAS in Indian Civil Airspace for any purpose whatsoever.
Drones in India have been banned since October 2014, regardless of their use. Despite that, it has been observed that several Organisers are using it in the functions/ events/ ceremonies etc. In a recent incident that occurred on 06-08-2017, for a similar violation of using the Drone without required permissions, a case has been booked against the Organisers of Wheelathon Cycle Rally in Nacharam PS limits of Rachakonda.
