To get more information on the modus operandi of the operatives involved in selling call data record (CDR) of mobile phones, cyber cell on Tuesday raided the office of the arrested accused and seized his belongings.

Cyber cell police on Tuesday presented Ashish Khatri, an assistant in the accounts department of the telecom company, who was arrested on Sunday, before court and took him on police remand.

“During questioning, he revealed that he had transferred the data on his computer at his office and with this information a raid was conducted on Tuesday at Reliance Communications office at BCM Heights,” said SP (cyber cell) Jitendra Singh.

Cyber cell had received complaints of some persons illegally providing CDR in exchange for money prompting the cops to initiate probe on Sunday.

Four persons were arrested by the cyber police on Sunday after which follow-up action was carried out.

“We have seized his hard drive and computer and his colleagues are being questioned on their role,” said SP (cyber cell) Jitendra Singh.

The search and seizure operation was carried out at the BCM Heights office till late night on Tuesday.

It had also come to fore that the CDR of 18 companies had been taken out by an accused Aditya Acharya.

“Some of the companies including Sky Shopping Network – sellers of Ayurvedic products online, Prime One Work Force – an outsourced BPO for a power company and Telemart – an online shopping company, were informed about the illegal acquirement of the CDR by the accused and they were asked to register an FIR in the case,” said Singh.

Another accused Ankush Patidar who is known to have taken out the CDR of Airtel was also detained for questioning.

Patidar currently works as a research assistant at an advisory firm. He has worked in Teleperformance in the past, said Singh.
