Unknown hackers have dumped information online, purportedly coming from a breach of Mandiant, a subsidiary of cybersecurity firm FireEye.
In a post to the website Pastebin, the individuals claimed to have breached the “infrastructure” of Mandiant, a cyber forensics subsidiary. In the message, coined “Op #LeakTheAnalyst,” the hackers said they breached Mandiant’s internal networks and compromised client data, which they hinted could be leaked separately.
The firm, however, says that there is no evidence its systems were breached.
Thus far, the leaked material appears to come from a hack of an analyst at Mandiant. The unnamed hackers said that additional “critical data” could be published in the future.
FireEye, which acknowledged the claims early Monday, has launched an investigation into the matter. The firm said that thus far there is no evidence that its or Mandiant’s systems were compromised, but noted the apparent breach of an employee’s social media accounts.
“We are aware of reports that a Mandiant employee’s social media accounts were compromised. We immediately began investigating this situation and took steps to limit further exposure,” FireEye said in a statement issued on Twitter Monday morning. “Our investigation continues, but thus far we have found no evidence FireEye or Mandiant systems were compromised.”
FireEye’s shares were down Monday morning following the hacking claims.
